Planetarium

Located in the center of Building A of the Beijing Planetarium, it is the earliest planetarium built in China and also one of the best dome theaters in the world at present.

The internal diameter of the dome screen is up to 23 meters and it can accommodate 400 viewers to watch the film simultaneously. The interior is arranged in four zones: red, green, brown and blue to ensure that every viewer has a good viewing experience perspective.

It features the world’s first 13.1-channel surround sound system, allowing every viewer to experience a unique surround sound effect.

It adopts the latest Zeiss optical planetarium and the projector with the highest resolution, richest color and best contrast in the world at present, which can simulate real natural starry skies, changing celestial phenomena, solar system travel, cosmic exploration and other wonderful astronomical images on the spherical screen.

Frequently broadcast popular science programs such asThe Big Bang”, “Impact and Life”, 和 “Racing to the Moon”, bringing the audience the most authentic and stunning starry sky experience.

Cosmic Theater

4D Theater

Located in Hall B, it has 200 seats and is equipped with the most advanced playback and special effects equipment.

Not only can it present vivid three-dimensional images, but it can also generate various special effects such as water spraying, wind spraying and leg patting according to the development of the science popularization program plot, bringing the audience an immersive and wonderful science popularization experience. For instance, when programs likeAsteroid: Extreme Missionare broadcast, it enables the audience to have a more intuitive understanding of the mysteries of the universe.

3D Theater

Located in Hall B, it features a 12-meter-wide and 9-meter-high metal screen, complemented by 45-degree polarized stereoscopic glasses, presenting scientific knowledge to the audience with realistic and dazzling stereoscopic effects.

Astronomy Exhibition Hall

Featuring 182 exhibits, distributed across Halls A and B, it showcases a wealth of astronomical knowledge and the mysteries of the universe.

On the second floor of Hall B, there is a Cosmic scenic area, which mainly showcases some deep-sky celestial bodies in the form of large and exquisite pictures, including galaxies, star clusters, nebulae, etc., such as the famous Horse Head Nebula in Orion, the spiral galaxy M104, the famous Seven Sisters Star Clusterthe Pleiades M45, and the Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula, ETC.

Solar Observatory and Public Observatory:

Provide tourists with the opportunity to observe the sun and other celestial bodies, and enhance their intuitive understanding of astronomical phenomena.

Ancient Observatory

Located near Jianguomen and affiliated with the Beijing Planetarium, it is a renowned Royal observatory of the Ming and Qing dynasties both at home and abroad and a key national cultural relic protection unit.

The eight ancient astronomical instruments on display at the top of the platform are first-class national cultural relics and can be regarded as China’s national treasures of astronomy. Every year, they attract tourists from all over the world to visit.
