First, Instructions for Entering the library
Appointment for a visit:
The National Museum of China implements a free and real-name reservation system for all visitors. Please make your reservation in advance through the official website, wechat official account or mini-program.
After a successful reservation, please enter the library with your original valid identification document for verification according to the reserved time slot.
Minors under the age of 14 must have an adult make a reservation on their behalf and be verified for entry at the same time as the person making the reservation.
Safety inspection
Visitors must voluntarily undergo security checks upon entering the museum. Those who are drunk or have disheveled appearance (such as wearing overly revealing clothes or slippers) are not allowed to enter.
Electric mobility devices, selfie sticks, power banks with a capacity of over 20,000 mah, and other prohibited or restricted items listed in the “List of Prohibited and Restricted Items of the National Museum of China” are not allowed to be brought into the museum.
Special groups:
Teenagers under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult to enter the library.
Visitors with limited mobility can contact the staff for assistance. The museum provides wheelchairs and other assistive devices for free use.
Second, exhibition etiquette
Keep quiet.
Please set your mobile phone to silent mode. Avoid making loud noises, making phone calls or playing audio in the exhibition hall to prevent disturbing other visitors.
Civilized Exhibition viewing
Chasing, playing around, climbing, lying down and littering are all prohibited in the museum.
It is prohibited to occupy public facilities and public Spaces for a long time, such as rest areas and restrooms.
Do not touch, deface or damage the exhibits. Please keep an appropriate distance from the exhibits and do not take photos with a flash to avoid causing damage to them.
Photography regulations:
In the exhibition areas where photography is allowed, please do not use flashlights, selfie sticks or photography equipment such as stands.
Photography is prohibited in areas marked with no photography signs.
Third, Activity regulations
Non-visiting activities:
Without approval, non-visiting activities such as lectures, performances, interviews, commercial photography, live streaming on self-media, and recorded broadcasts are prohibited in the museum.
Explanation service
If you need a guided tour service, you can make an appointment in advance for the free scheduled guided tour provided by the museum or rent an audio guide device.
Fourth, safety and emergency response
No smoking:
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all areas both inside and outside the library building. Please abide by the relevant regulations.
Facility usage:
Please strictly abide by the safety regulations for the use of elevators, escalators and stairs. It is strictly prohibited to sit, lie down, play, walk against the flow, run on escalators, or push wheelchairs, baby strollers and other dangerous behaviors.
It is strictly prohibited to misappropriate, touch or damage the fire-fighting facilities and equipment in the museum at will.

Luggage storage:
If you carry suitcases, backpacks or other items, you can go through the storage procedures at the museum’s luggage storage area. Please undergo a security check before storing your bags. Do not store flammable, explosive or items explicitly prohibited by the state.
Dietary regulations:
Eating and drinking are prohibited in the exhibition hall and non-dining areas. Please have meals in the designated areas.
Visiting Route:
The museum has numerous exhibition halls. It is recommended that you plan your visiting route in advance to avoid missing important exhibitions.
If it is your first visit, it is recommended that you start from the “Basic Exhibition of Ancient China” on the basement floor. This exhibition showcases cultural relics from the Paleolithic Age to the Qing Dynasty and is an excellent window to understand Chinese history and culture.
Sixth, opening hours and traffic information
Opening hours:
The opening hours of the National Museum of China are from 9:00 kepada 17:00 from Tuesday to Sunday (admission stops at 16:00, visitors leave at 16:30, and the museum closes at 17:00). It is closed on Mondays (except for legal holidays).
Traffic information:
The museum is located at No. 16, East Chang ‘an Avenue, Dongcheng District, Beijing, on the east side of Tiananmen Square.
You can take Metro Line 1 to Tian ‘anmen East Station and exit from Exit C or D. It takes about 5 minutes on foot to reach the north gate of the museum.
You can also choose to take a bus to Tian ‘anmen East Railway Station. After getting off, it takes about 5 minutes to walk there.
